Just a quick note to thank you for the amazing time my son, Shawn, had at your summer camp over the last couple of weeks. As he explained to me it was even more fun than he ever imagined that it would be. Although he has only been home for a few days, I have already noticed a marked improvement in his self-esteem and I know I have your program to thank for that.

My son Ben had a great time this summer at Can-Aqua and seems more settled and confident. He wants to return to next year and has already asked that as soon as the application comes we have to get it filled out and into the mail right away!

We just wanted to thank everyone for making the past two weeks the best two weeks of the summer for my boys, Mackenzie and Madison. Michael and I heard story after story yesterday on the way home and all afternoon until bed last night (which came very early). As I tucked Mackenzie into bed he said “I miss camp already” and that was only hours after leaving. It was also very reassuring to find out that as I was counting the “sleeps” until the coming home day… the boys were not!!! The opportunities you have provided for my children are soooo wonderful. I can’t talk about Can-Aqua enough to friends and others that I meet in my day to day activities. Mackenzie and Madison are definitely returning next year. Madison has a goal to be a counsellor for Can-Aqua and I imagine Mackenzie will follow in his footsteps.

Just wanted to tell you how happy Danielle was with her first summer camp experience. She truly made new friends, learned new skills, and was absolutely thrilled with how wonderful you were, how great the counsellors were and all the kids at camp. Thank you for giving her a wonderful overnight camp experience, and I am sure she will come back for more!

Thank you so much for taking care of Susan and Kyle in the month of July. They have memories to last a lifetime. When I went looking for a summer camp for the kids I did not know anything about Camp Can-Aqua other than the fact that it was a summer camp in Ontario, Canada. Many of my friends and relatives said I was crazy for sending the kids so far away from home. But I have nothing but great things to say about your camp. It has been a great experience for the kids. I really like the low key and mellow attitude of the camp. We live just outside Washington, DC and everyday is filled with stress and pressures. When the kids come home after a month of camp they could see the difference and how nice it is to slow life down.

Thank you for the great time we had while staying at camp. Our favourite activities were archery, sailing, swimming, campcraft and campfire. We were really surprised to find out that we had a bit of a knack for archery! Who would have thought! All the skits at campfire were great, and the staff made it an enjoyable experience for everyone. Jill loved being up at campfire showing off, and her favourite skit was the one about the canoeing trip where there needed to be ‘more feeling’, ‘more passion’, ‘more madness’, etc. Playing ‘Freeze’ at mealtimes was great too…even better because we were never caught, so we didn’t have to scrape!!!!! The staff made it easy to get to know everyone and made sure that everyone was comfortable. The warm up activities were a great idea and a good way for all of us to get to know each other…not to mention fun… and maybe a little wet… especially Jill!! It was fun getting to know the people we shared our cabins with, as well as other ‘bigs’ and ‘littles’, and all the counsellors. The counsellors were really nice.

Thank you so much for making Ami Davis’s experience at your camp in the Finches cabin a wonderful, positive experience for her. This was Ami’s second year going to your camp. She explained to me how she felt free to be herself and was accepted “weird and all.” She speaks of the friends she has met and hopes again to meet next year at camp. I can see a stronger Ami – post camp. Words can’t start to convey a Mother’s gratitude and thanks for being who you are and supporting my daughter. Have a wonderful autumn and winter. I wanted to thank you for facilitating another wonderful summer for our daughter. I do believe she self-actualizes every day at Can-Aqua. It is such a restorative, energizing place for her. This summer seemed to be a special high for her as she experienced the opportunity for leadership as an LIT in an extremely supportive environment.

On behalf of my husband and myself, we want to thank you for sending us home a very, very happy and relaxed boy. He talked non-stop for two days of his month at camp! And in Cale’s own words, “Thanks a lot for the best time of his life. Great month”. He also had special thanks to Richard and Catherine for a great trip. We’d also like to mention that he spoke very highly of his 1st session counsellors, Brad and Perry. Once again, thank you for all you’ve done to make this such a special time for Cale.

Just wanted to take a moment to let you know what a thrill Michelle had once again this year at camp. Each year things only seem to get better and more exciting than the last. Michelle was quick to say that this last session was so exciting, that she hardly had time to write. We immediately notice all the great changes when we pick her up, and even more when she is back home again. Sometimes it’s as simple as the fact that she appreciates her things more (a real bathroom instead of the KYBO is the first on her list!) and other times it’s just that her food palette has expanded. Truth is, those are just some of the things we appreciate and enjoy. . . she is so thrilled about the whole time she had that we get new stories every month, all the way through until the next year. It’s just as great an experience, if not better, than what I was able to have and I am really grateful that we found that for Michelle. You guys have once again exceeded our best expectations and in my case been able to reproduce the essence of what summer sleep over camp is about. Camp Can-Aqua captures the best of what every child needs in their life; joys, skills, effort, participation, independence, freedom, manners, sharing, laughing, fun and more laughing, scary stories, and no parents for a few weeks of the year!

To Everyone at Camp Can-Aqua

My children, Maia and James have just returned home from two weeks at your summer camp. This was a first time experience for both of them and although they very rarely agree on anything, they both loved being at Can-Aqua. The activities, the friendships, the atmosphere and the food had them both raving about their experience. I’ve heard ontario summer camps are some of the best in the world and you did not disappoint. Thank you very much for making my children’s first summer camp experience such a positive one!

I would like to thank you and your staff very much for making Ryan’s one month stay a learning experience. Ryan had expressed to me on parent visiting day that he was having a great time and the food was fabulous. He also mentioned that one or two of his bunkmates for the first two weeks were challenging. He explained that the councilors handled difficult situations well and any issues that got out of hand were brought to supervisor’s attention. Ryan has written to me just last week and has said he is enjoying his last two weeks even more.

I wanted to thank everyone for all of their support and hard work while Sam was at camp. I asked him if he had a great time at camp, to which he replied “No.” I was shocked and stunned, and tried to figure out what to say next, when he finished with “ No. I can honestly say it was better than great!” He is already making plans for his return to camp next year!

Dear Can-Aqua

On behalf of my niece and nephew Emma and Jack, I would like to thank you and your staff for an amazing introduction to the wonderful world of Camp Can-Aqua. We all had a great time. Special thanks to Al who stayed longer than scheduled at woodworking, and let us squeeze in a quick project at the last minute. The second and third helpings of taffy on snow were also a hit! Our counsellor Emily was a great host and made us feel right at home. When I asked the kids what they liked the best, they said “Archery and canoeing”. When I asked what they liked the least, they said “leaving at the end of the weekend”.

All in all a great success!

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to drop a quick not to say THANK YOU for an amazing weekend. William and I had a great time and even as we pulled out of the parking lot he talked about how he wants to come back next year.

During dinner on Sunday night he made me catch him with his elbows on the table and before bed we sang “Let Me See Your Boogaloo”. However my wife really didn’t understand why he was standing on the chair at dinner saying sorry.

It was the perfect weekend for a 5 year old. He was able to experience what life as a camper would be like including the best activity, campfire.
You have an fantastic staff, full of energy, caring, committed and wanting to have fun, if who we met this weekend are any indication of what the rest of the summer staff are like, summer of 2011 will be great!

Again thank you for a great weekend, have an amazing summer and I hope to see all of you again next June for Family Weekend.
